Disappointing news.. Antibodies vanish after only 3 months!

In news that may frustrate millions of people recovering from the Corona virus, a new study showed that antibodies “evaporate” in the airways quickly after infection with the epidemic, according to what the “Al Arabiya” website indicated.

Disappointing news.. Antibodies vanish after only 3 months!

However, vaccination does its job later and increases its levels significantly after two doses, according to a new study issued by the Swedish Karolinska Institute.

The results of the study also indicated that taking a second dose of the vaccine after recovering from corona, may be important to protect against re-infection and prevent its transmission.

In this context, Anna Sorensen, who led the research, said that what makes the study unique is that we looked at samples from both blood and airways; This gave us new knowledge of the immune response in places where the virus strikes, which is rare in studies; Because it is difficult to sample from the airways, so we knew less about antibody levels in this place than in the blood."

The good news!

While she considered that the good news is that the antibodies returned quickly after vaccination in those who had previously been infected with the epidemic, not only in the blood but also in the airways.

She explained that the scientists found that the levels of antibodies in the airways after two doses of the vaccine were often higher than during the course of the disease, while they found in people who were not infected before vaccination, levels were much lower or even undetectable!

While Karen Lowry, co-author of the study, indicated that “the results of this research showed that the blood study only does not reflect the levels of antibodies in the respiratory tract, which likely play a key role in neutralizing the virus in the places where it is found, and therefore completing the vaccination With a second dose, it may be important to achieve optimal immune responses and reduce the spread of infection between individuals."

It is reported that the level of antibodies required to protect against infection is not yet known, despite all the studies being conducted on this topic.
